The “Everyone Deserves A Home” mural was co-designed and co-created with Engage Winona’s Kitchen Table Project over the course of 2023-2024. The purpose of the mural is to amplify the important housing advocacy of the Winona Area Kitchen Table (WAKT). The mural was unveiled at Engage Winona April 6, 2024 and is now installed on the exterior of Habitat for Humanity Winona County.
WAKT is a cohort of local community members who have faced housing instability or homelessness. Since then, the team has brought their own lived experience and invited cross-sector stakeholders to work together on solutions to housing issues that will truly work in our community. This work is supported by the Heading Home Minnesota Funders Collaborative. Heading Home Minnesota Funders Collaborative (HHMFC) is a member organization of grant makers working together to innovate, incubate, and advocate for strategies to prevent and end homelessness. WAKT is a project of Engage Winona.
Sarah was a fiscal year 2023 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, which funded the mural project. This activity was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
