Fabric of Winona: Community-Engaged Mural Project

Conceived-of in fall 2020 and launching in summer 2021, The Joy Labs began co-designing mural panels with Project FINE, a local agency welcoming, providing support, empowerment, and advocacy for our neighbors who are recent refugees or immigrants. Over the course of many months, hundreds of community members ranging from age 2-80 years old helped co-create the panels, which were installed on the back of the Winona County History Center in May 2022. This series is the Fabric of Winona arm of the #winonacolorproject, with many additional groups and panels planned for this ongoing project focused on building community cohesion through story-telling and shared creating.
