Community Builds! Maplewood Community Mural

The Joy Labs partnered with the Minnesota Marine Art Museum (mmam) and the Winona Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) on the Community Builds! project aimed at increasing vibrancy, art and positive connections in the community. Residents of the Maplewood neighborhood were invited to a co-design party in the spring to help guide the color palette and design. In early fall, over the course of three days, 70+ youth and adults contributed to the flora-themed mural, bringing new life to a retired 60x30 foot volleyball court.

Special thanks to Burggraf’s ACE Hardware for their generous donation of paint, and to mmam docent and volunteer Allan Lieder & Jason from Studio 24 for their drone photography.
